But did come back using back roads and service road at 50 mph, sipping more wine , listening to County Music at da wife's request.

Really really do love my life.

Did have people taste test the wine yesterday and all loved it. Tested at 9.2% abv yesterday so let it sit for a few days more. My warmer room will help.

Had to say Wow on my stock of 187ML bottles I use to bottle finished wine before drinking or giving samples. And all come from years of wine drinking at Bubba's Chozen Frozens here in Jennings.

Dec Start

Dec 2

At times looking at the sky for what it's offering , you see a WOW!

These two pictures this morning near 8AM looking SouthEast and had to look twice as I pulled into the graveyard. M50 camera out and 2 shots at different focal lenghts.
Just minutes later, it was gone. I just saw it at the right minutes.

Heard they were called Sundogs. Caused by freezing rain reflecting the rainbow colors. A wow moment for sure.

Well Hy Ya the 4th day of December and finally up at 3:30AM to get the day moving.
Coffee heating and more being made.
Empty little wine bottles gathered and in the shop box.
A check on Blackberry wine in refrigerator in garage and looking good. No bubbling and settlement at the bottom. Did Kill the yeast and filter it though my filter cloth yesterday afternoon. Probably tomorrow into bottles.
Apple wine in sewing room and still bubbling away at a set ever 2 seconds. 😉 .
Blackberry wine with settlement at bottom.

Well , did bottle the blackberry wine. 10 liters ended up with. Plus a little n a liter bottle. Pasted the wifes taste test since it's for her. 😉

And wow on the seeing geese the 5 day of Dec on my afternoon roam with da wife. A flock at the 99/302 junction and then some more when just a ways down 302. Then a small bunch near the flying service on 302.

Dang cold weather caught me fooling around and not getting the siding up to keep the winds out from under the house. But did take care of that yesterday.

Today , a quick ride about as started to rain a bit. So home and chilling.
No news from da gal with her sister and our daughter visiting someone Dee knows in Texas. 1st time she's done an overnighter n a long time. Be interesting to see how it went. Course with older sister and daughter knowing all her problems. It's all good.
Till the next.

AC and BF meets.

To my room with a fresh cup of coffee and start to work on a Meeting Brenda report.

Had met her a few months after getting out of the Marines serving for a friends wedding in Basile as I we were picked to serve together. May of 1966. Met her again about 3 or so months later stopping in Basile at Chunkie's drive in for something to eat on my way back from work for my 7 days off from Shell Oil out of Venice, La. LOL That started it off and we're still putting up with each other.

29 November 2024

Into November and happening with my life ;-)

November 29! November, you went fast.

Main thing I've been doing is staying warm and wine work. ;-)

Oct 29 th.   A ride about with the wife and her foot got in the way when taking a picture of black birds roaming the fields

Holloween Decorations already get wide spread in town here at the end up October. Across the street from my sis in laws home.

On Nov 2 started Some grape wine.
Used a chopper blade setup to tear the grapes apart and just juice and water left. Now about 2.5 gallons in a bucket and around 6lbs of suger added and yeast added. Go to work yeast.

My wine station in the shop.  May as well call it the Wine shop now as that's about all that gets done there nowdays.

Nov 4

The wife loves these little tree covered roads and this one heading North near Kinder

Nov 6
Voting done! Mile in the graveyard done! Setting a different lens on the Canon M50 ( 15 X 45 that came with camera ) Done. Had to stop and take a few pictures this morning with different setting to see the outcome.

And moving the Grape wine from the bucket to the 3 gal carboy. To let the processing continue.

Later today you can alread see the settlement of the grape wine.

The box of little bottles under the saw. 187 ml or 6.3 oz. Have lots.

Nov 8

Great afternoon at the LA Bar with old friends. My favorite place to go Friday afternoon.

Every year for Vetrens Days, Lake Arthur does this. Picturce of thier veterans. Only place I've ever seen it.

Nov 10
A run to Lake Charles to show them the Avenue of Flags. Also a Veterans Day thing. At the big graveyard on Broad Street. They loved it and 1st time for them. I had been a few times

Nov 12
One batch of fig wine in the making as of this morning!

Nov 20
Just had to put the Canon M50 to work yesterday coming home on US 90 headed East with sun going in the West.

Nov 26

Jennings getting thier christmas decs up on main street. Did try to do some night photos but street lights so bright it destroys the pictures of the decorations.

Nov28

Well, wife walked to sisters to the Thankgiving get together. And I was going till 11 ish. So, decided to go ahead with the oil/filter change on the wife's Nissan Rogue. So it's good for another 5000 miles. ;-)

The Rogue in it's place under the carport.

07 November 2024

Oct 24 to Nov 6 and the Roaming with Da Bride

As usual, me and Brenda go roaming in the afternoons. Back roads to see what's happening on the farms.  What may be differents on other back roads. Cruising speed generally 40 to 50 mph on the good roads and 25 to 35 on the rough ones and gravel.

Love watching the sky colors on  the roads less traveled.

Lots farmers getting fields ready for spring planting.

Saw these people cutting the 2nd rice crop.

And with the winds of late, A dust cloud when the farmers are working the fields.

And a day of fog early in the morning as I was roaming the city on the way to the graveyard for my walk.

Love making a trip to Houssiers park to check on Bayou Nezpique at least once a week.

And road work going on.  Wonder if blacktop is coming in the near future?

I mainly do the Frontage roads instead of the interstate roads. Set my cruise control speed at 45 mph as the where I can get the traverse into it high gear.
And, just see what's happening in the 10.

Finally started getting some rain storms and did it wake the ants up. Had several new nest's pop up after the rains. So , added a power poison to get them gone.  Usually takes a couple of days and no ants.

Then I use a water hose to wash away the remains.

Decided to work on the Grape wine. Used a chopper blade setup to tear the grapes apart and just juice and water left. Now about 2.5 gallons in a bucket and around 6lbs of suger added and yeast added. Go to work yeast.

Then just yesterday, transferred it to a Carboy to let it finished. Then clean the bucket and  put away till the next batch.

And checking early this morning at a set of bubbles every 3 seconds so the yeast doing it's thing.    Did check alcohol content and at 6% ABV presently.

Now, to see what the winds are gonna sent our way this day that looking at the sky at 3:30AM and what a show of stars. Love it.
