Well, the Truck got a new set of shoes today at 551 bucks worth. 2nd set since buying it in '03 so can't grip. And , filled it up at 2.71 a gal at Murphy Walmart. Gas mileage was a bit low at 14.8 but mostly intown or a trip to Lake Arthur. Gonna keep an eye on that as last fill up it was about 15.3. Course, could of just been that load of gas Murphy got.

Worked on the neighbors pressure washer twice yesterday. Once pull the carb off to clean the float bowl and main jet. Ran it for about 30 mins washing the driveway . Bought it to her house and started it and it died right away. Hmmmmmmm. Brought it back to the house and pulled the float bowl and main jet again. Jet blocked with a small piece of trash. So, drained and flushed the gas tank this time. Brought it back and let her crank it on the first pull. We very happy now. Let us hope it keeps on Keeping on.

Painted some more on the exhaust for the KLR and still waiting for the parts to put it back together again. Then , when lower it on the lift, I'll pull the gas tank and change out the ECU. And, hope that solves the long lingering problem with the slight miss.

Saints won the game last night that most said they were gonna lose big time. Ye of no faith, Sigh!

Figuring out just how I'm gonna mount the Go Pro Camera on my Helment,Probably start with it mounted on top and run it off the romote. Jury still out on that.

The Nitro and I went on the Bayou this morning till about 1:30P. A little scum on the water but not the kind that stains the boat. So, went up bayou , stopping at my marked possible spots and end up with a small 10 inch bass at the first stop. Then as it started clouding up and a sprinkle here and there, turn around and went south of the park, stopping at a few places there which produced 2 crappie ( small ) and a missed gaspagoo. Lost my next to last beetle spin so seeing it was 1P, headed back to the landing, loaded up, came home and put the boat up and truck up and ate. Now, chill time.
Finally made the decision to lose the Sony A57 camera combo. Traded for a new Go Pro 3+ and a 100 bucks. Now, to learn a new camera. Had used a GoPro 2 before so kinda sorta familiar with the concept, just does things a little different. Kinda like my other 3 cameras, all different in the way they do things.

Good news is an email telling me the ECU for the KLR is shipped. Now just hope that's the problem I've been having for the last 15,000 miles. LOL! The Fat Lady has not sung yet.

GDaughter was in when I got in last night. Sucking up to Grandmaw is the name of the game there. And Grandmaw just loves it.

So that's it for today's entry of things that happened over 50 years ago. Kinda wonder where all these guys are today and how their life went?  I just did a notice from a fellow Marine that the Lt. that was on the cruise with us just died this month. Wonder how many more are in the ground.

Last week, my wife brought me a box that has been stored in a closest since we moved here in '69. Pictures I though long lost in the box. So will be going though them and posting with a caption on some at to where and when.

The Grinder ,  as we come to know it. Learned all close order drill on this field at MCRD San Diego, CA. To the upper right at groups of 40 Marines per Platoon. To the far right is the Obstetrical Courses and Quansen huts we spent 3 months in during Boot Camp. After Boot, we went to Camp Pendleton for a month of Infatry Training , a 20 day boot leave to come home for a bit. Which was a long bus ride for me. Then back to MCRD for Sea School for a month, You then stay in the Sea Pool to await assignment to a Marine Detachment aboard a ship. Doing Honor Guards and Military Burials in the area.

The USS Los Angeles  CA 135 was a heavy cruiser built in the 40's and final decommission in 1963. I served with the Marine Detachment for it's final cruise.

17 October 2014

A fun fill day with playing about with the KLR most of the morning. Took starter switch apart and cleaned and back together. Took throttle all apart and cleaned and lubed. Took small washer shim off the slide needle and set the fuel mixture at 1. 5 turns. Pulled apart, cleaned and lube the connections under the head light. Check ohmage on the pickup coil which was middle spec.
Never got back up on the roof today. Instead , the bandit and I took off on an other 90 mile ride. A few new and interesting roads. Darn bandit rides rough after all the time on the KLR.

16 October 2014

Wash wash wash is the name of the game mainly. Getting the carport and house washed down so I can repaint the roof over the carport.
But, today, took a break from that to let my back get back right.  Ha ha ha ha Ageing is hell.  So, today was take the gas tank and front fairing off the KLR to look for electrical problems. Check items I shorted out as the clutch and side stand switches. Also redid the neutral switch. All good. Did find the clutch plug in where I had shorted it out not plugged in all the way.  Did find the ignition coil to be low on ohms reading so got another coming from Ebay.
Tomorrow morning early, will check a few more things  and lube the throttle cables. May take the .032" washer off the slide needle. Though it might be a cause of studdering in the motor but was not.
So, the Bandit got the nod today for an 80 mile or so romp about the area. Really didn't decide where I was going till after I filled up on 26 here in Jtown.  So , North on 26 to 104 to Mamou and 95 and 29 to Eunice and 91, 98 and 97 back to town. No shutdowns, just chasing the front wheel.
But, tomorrow, back on the roof.
Also built a gas container I can hang above the bike and run it without the gas tank on.

11 October 2014

Interesting things were the last trip to the Laccassine Reserve which closes to fishing the 15th. Me and Luce had fun even not catch any fish.  Stopped at Pete's Camp for potty break for me and the dog and let her smell around. ;-) Pulled into a shade spot at the duck pond  and did an MRE for lunch.

Next thing was checking more into the electrics on the KLR so pulled the tank off again and pulled every connection apart, cleaned and lubed them. Redid the ground there and found a corroded and froze wire plug so cut it off and installed new. Charging seems to be more stable but still getting a little surge above 4000 so gonna look at some other things. Did get a new sparking plug to put in also.

Rode with the fire truck today for the 5 k walk / run for the Pulmonary Hypertension  deal. Peeps were many, near 2000 was said. And football watching the rest of the day. Been a good week.

05 October 2014

Wow! 57 F this morning as the cold air started filtering down yesterday. Been a good few weeks lately. With doing more stuff with the KLR in electrical work and carb work.
Wife back from 2 week  vacation trip with Sis and Bro on Law to points West. The dog and I enjoyed the quiet stay about home.
Trying to ride one of the bikes near everyday to somewhere's local. Even just going out and about to see how harvest is coming.
