28 December 2015

The year 2015 coming to a close pretty fast!  Seems the older you get, the faster time flys by.  Not a lot of exciting things have happened since my last post in here.  But a few things to note.

Supper at the daughters home with gift exchange due to them leaving for Northern Missouri for a deer hunting trip the 23rd. Was neat.

Wine still bubbling along and in the week of warm weather we were having, it was doing quite nice. I did check it for gravity and taste a few days ago and it was still a bit sweet with a 1.010 gravity. I had started it at 1.070 at least. Gonna be interesting.

 This is near 6 gallons.

Did get some riding on the bikes in and all is good with them. With the cold weather that's here today, they will be parked for a bit.

Also in that mix is an ear infection I developed in the left ear last Thursday. Finally went to the Dr today and with ear drops and antibodies for the cost of 58 bucks, I should be finished with this in 7 days. I had been treating it with peroxide  and anti bodic slave. Was getting a bit better and hopefully now, will get much better, much faster.

Other thing is started going through my bolt and nut collection. So of it been sitting there , not used , since '86 when Fred Wilson shut down. Most of it is not useable on todays machinery. Metric pretty much rules most mechanical stuff.

So , movies and tv and chilling till  the ear is better.

13 December 2015

Boat engine all back together and runs. Still have to use a lot of engaging the electric enrichener to get it to stay running from cold. But, will do for now, runs gud once warmed up.

Shook up the wine mix and still bubbling big time. Think will swap it to a bubble jug tomorrow morning. Give it time to settle. And test for alcohol content at the time.

Big storm coming shortly. We'll see how much of it we get. But , pretty good South wind at the time and has been for the past few days. Plus 75 degrees F at present.

Reading the Autobiography of Malcolm Smith. Amazing motorcycle rider and icon. Lots to read yet.

Lake Arthur Fire works was happening last night, along with their parade. Made the fireworks but stayed away from Main street and parade. Not into that to very much. Did a bit of Taco soup and two beers with a few friends while at the docks watching the display over the lake. Then home and chill.

Not a lot today cept putting bike on batter tenders , picking a few more tomatoes and putting the ripe ones in the freezer for future use.

10 December 2015

Hello Blog,

Still slowly putting the fuel system on the 90 Merc for my boat back together. Do a little when the temp in the shop and my mind is into it. Never will get hoses packs from Mercury again. Super expensive and want to send you stuff you don't need.

Hard to believe that I've been waiting over a week for some hand grips from Bike Bandit. Next time, I'll just stop by a dealer when I"m in the area of one. Oh Wait, only know of one in Lake Charles that's about 35 miles from me and the Next in Scott , about 35 miles the other way. That's pert near 5 gallons of gas round trip in the truck, 2 on Suzy. Guess it depends on how much you are in a hurry for them. Oh well.

Had to fix a broken wire on the KLR right turn signal , again. Very small wire to the LED set up. Also changed oil ( but not the filter ) and pulled the left cover off to check balancer  chain tension. Had last checked it about 10,000 miles ago . Found near no movement. Put back together and we done with that for another 10 or more thousand miles.

Did get the Oil and filter and greased up the truck last week. Do that about every 5000 miles , which averages about 1.3 times a year. LOL!

Walmart! Decided to order oil on line and pick up at the local store. Won't do that again. Ordered 4  5-quart containers, got one in the pick up area when notified that they didn't have all the order. Sent me to the Auto department to get the other for the truck oil. No oil for the bikes so bought some Rotella T for that. Get a notice a week later that the rest of my order was in and I'd though they cancelled it. LOL! So went to the store and got the two containers of 20-50 GTX for the bikes. Now, I got lots of oil. I can change oil in the Suzy, lawn mowers 2 of them, the generator, the pressure washer. Ta Daaaaaa.

A rare occurrance on taking in someone else's bike to work on. A friend with a 250 Honda Rebel. Never worked on one of those and thank you You Tube for the guidance. ;-)  Pulled the carb and cleaned ever orffice and checked ever diaphram and put back together. A lot of steps to getting the carb out and back in. But, bike is running good now. Front tire was change by her family peeps and pinched the tube. So put 2 patches on that and it's still holding air. That's good. ;-)  Took a little test ride up and down the block and is soo different a ride than my two bikes. But, a great bike for her. Think I would have fun on this bike with it set up to a standard style instead of a cruiser set up with the pegs forward and buckhorn bars.

Nuke Stress and Pictures yesterday in Lake Charles. Been about 3 yrs since that was done. No problem and pretty quickly done. Had no problem with the tread mill and it's elevation to get my heart rate up to 130 > highest I saw on the monitor. Nice friendly peeps there so enjoyable experience.
So now, the 18th, a trip to my Cardo Doc here in Town to discuss what they saw. Must be pretty okay as the RNs were happy with me and told me to go have fun.

Today's ramblings

Coffee, sure missed you yesterday morning. Sigh! Hello foggyness! See you came to visit us. Digging up years supply of Community Proof of Purchase for daughter. 'Spose to be a cash for schools program with the company. So, always cut them out and save them. Now, let's see what's up with the wind of fate today .

04 December 2015

Things going well for the past days.
Got wrong parts in for the Merc outboard fuel lines,

Got a friends bike on the bench for carb clean and make run. Had to look on the internet on how to get the carb out on a Honda Rebel 250. But, it's a done deal as per cleaning and checking the carb and putting  it back on the bike. Now just have to hook all else back to the carb and air filter and seat and battery. Lots of stuff to take off to get the carb out.

Cold weather of the past few days putting a slow down on mechanic work though. Not excited about my fingers being cold and banging one into some metal. As did yesterday cutting a blocking tab off a carb for the Rebel. And, this morning , near 40F so nothing gonna happen till over 55 degrees for sure if then. LOL!

20 November 2015

Yahoo, only 5 days since last post. LOL!  See if I can copy some things entered on Facebook.

from the 15th > Fine afternoon riding the Green Machine KLR Ventured for about 80 miles roaming up this road and down this road All mostly gravel and love it. A stop for a glass of wine in LA and another in J Town , then home. Love my life

16th > Fine walk this morning but with the south winds and 60F temps da skeeters were out also. 3 email programs done gone though and money matters tended to and a message to a mc shop on an order placed on the 10th that has not been heard from but account charged for the part. Glad it's just a couple of bolts and washers I should of just went to Lake Charles and get at A & L Bolt instead of ordering and did so anyway since I was riding in that general area anyway. Hmmmmmmmm. Sometimes I wonder about me. LOL!

17 > Has been a great morning still stepping in an ant nest that was not even hidden. Just me eyeballing kumquarts more than the ground. But , they have been fed proper. Ta Daaaaaaaaaa. Good walking about the grave yard wid da Luce this morning and not too wet but still slippery at places. Now, chill mode till the next project starts.

Just came in from being under my shed reading and it's doing a good blow with a shower once in awhile. But pretty protected from a direct South wind by the trees and buildings to the South and a house and trees to the North. Would be much worst out in the open country.

oh wow! the monster is at Lake Charley Town now. It's coming to see us soon. I'll be in my little room at da house chillin. And, watching it come though. Ta daaaaaa. The hatches are all batten down.

To all my Class Mates from '61. We just lost another. Jerry Kratzer left us last night. As soon as a memorial is posted I'll post a link. RIP Jerry, good friend.

Phew! My hide posts finger is tired already this morning, But, I can scroll down and see a bunch of political candidate and other negative stuff that means nothing to me. Sigh! Pete! LOL! Not yours, I actually like seeing what you put up. wink emoticon

Trying out a Bengal ant poison today. One mound attacked. We'll shall see. It's an on going war, the ants against me in my yard. The ones that sneak attacked my yesterday are not their no mo. They gone and only one new pile in the front yard. Now, chill mode till time to go for a ride on one of the bikes. Email says, part for Bandit on it's way. Yea! But, I'll probaby be on Bandit this afternoon.

A great 110 plus mile ride this after noon. A few friends met on the road and still chillin.

19 > as it nears 70F outside, I may actually go do something outside beside washing and drying clothing which is happening already yes. ;-

15 November 2015

Over a month since my last entry. Wow!  Well, summerizing it .
KLR > pulled the front tire off and  polished the inner rim, check allinement, reinstalley and it to seat finally.  Lost a nut on the swingarm bolt so replaced it with one from a bolt shop in LC town.

Bandit > serviced the forks and pulled the last hard shim from the Gold Valve stack to soften it up more. 5 wt oil to 5.6 inches. Cleaned brake pads wit gas to get a bit of kerosene and oil off them and put together. Cleaned capilars as much as could without taking them apart. Ordered new pads but one set came in wrong so got that replaced. Will wait till bike needs to go on lift again before change them out. Yesterday notice front brake was not activating the brake light so checked the switch and after taking it apart, saw it was broken not letting the contact points touch. Order one last night from Bike Bandit.

Started running a soft tail pack that I can swap between the two bike makes it easier to carry what I generally carry when on the road.

Boat > had  a bit of a starting problem with it a few weeks ago and more so last week. Runs fine once you get it to keep running without bumping the electric choke/ inrichener. So got with Ronnie and ordered fuel filter/ gas lines / fuel pump repair kit. Should be in next week sometimes. Will be the 1st attempt at working on that motor.

Fire Dept Bar Be Cue > went down good with around 1700 tickets sold so that was good.

Garden >  Watermelons did not do good this late. Developed brown spots all over the end of them. So, put the little one that looked healthy in the fridge and pulled all the plants and trashed them. Still have one in the wheelbarrow but very small and not growing very fast.
Did put some cucumber seeds starting in the hot house. We'll see. ;-)

12 October 2015

So as the 12th day of October rolls around a few things to ponder on.
Buried a family member so glad that's passed. The get together after the fact was great to relieve the pain of the burial and is hope to have a reunion every year.
Totally screwed up a tire / tube assy process by doing it in a rush. So , took all apart and started from scratch. Totally cleaned rim and mounted tire on rim with one bead. Rest will be done this morning in the cool of the morning and on the table.
Did two trips to New Orleans this time as daughter had school things that needed to be done yesterday. Being on the road sure made me lonely for the road on my bikes instead of in the truck. This last trip , went out on I-10 with more traffic due to later hour > 10AM ish <  than when leaving at 7AM ish. Saw the West lane was doing construction and really backed up big time so coming back on US90 was for sure instead of just an idea. Saw two wrecks , one where a Sheriff car was traveling pretty fast with lights on went off the road and was upside down in the woods . About a dozen people already stopped and running to the car as I eased past so didn't stop . Then one in about the middle of Patterson with a car on it's side in the medium. Much EMS and LEO there.
Took LA14 at New Iberia on down to Lake Arthur , stopped for a couple beers at Delia's for old times sake then on the Legion as stopped for a beer there and then home. Also stopped in Kaplan for a Subway for a very late dinner.
Home and  watered the garden plots and chilled till 9P and in bed till 2:45.  Coffee, oatmeal, my room and my computer. That catches us up for the week.

05 October 2015

Been a good week, Been a not too good week. Kinda like Ying and Yang, the good and bad, the beauty and ugly. All needing each other to complete the whole.

One bad was , the KLR not wanting to start when stopping a few blocks from the home and having to go get it in the morning with my trailer just in case I could not find the problem.
The good, A loose connection finally coming apart was the culprit, Cleaning it up and a good firm connection solved a temp gauge problem I was having with it.

Another bad was the front going flat on me and dropping the bike and me in a curve on a little back road. Luckly able to call a friend to come and get me and the bike about 25 miles away being as I could find nothing wrong with the tire and it would not hold air when Pumping it up. Figured it was a split tube and not going to be patchable. Also scraping up and bruising the left knee.

Now , the main job , going on 5 days later, is letting it heal. And, the going is slow but much better than just two days ago. Still not comfortable with a blanket or sheet touching it.

Good thing is finding the flat problem being a pinched tube that I had to have done. Weird thing is that it developed a hole after at least 500 miles since putting the tire on. So now waiting on new tubes for it.

While waiting, recalled that I may have not had complete instructions on installing gold valve cartridge emulators awhile back so pulled the forks back off and apart and drilled the extra holes and put all back together with Dexron 2 ATF oil. We'll see if that smoothens out things.

Had to take apart and clean the valve on my my bike lift as it was sticking big time and pulled the circlip off. But, fixing and working now.

Other things is the wife's sister's husband died a few days back and arrangements are in the GO MODE to get him and the family to Jngs from Houston area. Funeral to be here at Mathew's and to be buried at the Durell graveyard. with the rest of the Fontenot family.

That about sums up the week.

28 September 2015

Another 2 weeks flown by in life and happenings.

KLR is still got a problem with the temp gauge reading erratic but know it's not running hot so not very concerned about it. Will dig further into it during the winter and non riding days.  Did put new Avon Gripster tire on rear so now have a matching set of tires on it.

Bandit has all the luggage put back on as I can carry more stuff and not have to use the truck for small items. Have a new rear tire for it that come in and will change it out in the near future. Gonna run the present as long as safe. Seems strange just changing out one front tire in the last two years when I used to change out near 2 sets a year. The halt to long distance travel did that one.

The Nitro boat's Keel Guard I got at such a good deal started coming apart. the plastic from the adhesive strip. Tried some weather strip glue , nada. Got some Marine RTV glue and that is holding so far after 3 trips to the water. All else on it doing great and finally decide to learn Lake Arthur, Had never fish just in the Lake, always the Mermentau above and below it. Been fun and lots of shallow running so picked up the trolling motor a bit. Even knock the transducer loose on the last trip.

Did a great poker run  with a side trip to a little sick guy in Kinder. Probably near 200 bikes showed in Kinder for the occasion not counting cars and trucks.  Did the whole run for a change  but checked out at the end when the auction was fixing to start.

Gardening is happening with tomatoes and cucumbers and water melon plants in the back yard. Wife has some things planted but not sure what.

Still getting morning walks in at the graveyard when up to it or weather agrees. Lost another old childhood friend this month from the old neighborhood. Had not had much contact with him in the past 40 years but that's normal after you leave the old hood and start a new life.

So , at 06:32 on this fine Monday, fixing to get dressed, get Da Luce up and go for a walk before the rains get here about noonish , so said.

14 September 2015

Catching up on the past week plus.  For sure cool out side this morning at 60F.  Had not seen that in awhile. Do plan on getting the boat in the water today

One fishing trip and not getting anything in the boat with a few short nibbles about it. But, learning some more Lake Arthur is the main thing.
Yesterday, racked the Fig wine over to the bubbler with a little action after it was done. Had been pretty quiet for the last few days in the fermenter.
Worked on two garden plots to transplant tomatoes and cucumbers this week some time.
Changed out the rear tire on the KLR with an Avon Gripster. Tough to seat that tire and a couple light weights to balance it. Still enjoy the heck out of riding that bike on the back roads. Which I did to the tune of about 100 miles a couple days ago after the tire / oil / filter change at 44.2 80 miles on the ole gal. And did way too much wine upon return to home. But, yesterday, did not leave the home front.
Decided again giving my laptop away and reenter a few things on it as had erased all on it. Kinda like re installing Win 10.
Wife's Brother in Law in Conroe not doing too good so she headed out that way yesterday to be with her sis.
And, hopefully, get the boat back out today with me and da Luce to learn some more of the lake.

09 September 2015

On mechanical was losing a screw on the KLR windshield a few days ago and replaced that yesterday morning. Took the bandit out for the morning ride and getting use to the luggage bags being on there again after 2 years of not.              The fig wine is slowing way down in yeast to sugar action but we'll wait another week before transferring to a jug for the finale setting.             Went out in the boat to Lake Arthur this morning solo and a few nibbles but no hook sets. Check out a few places I've not been before and still learning the north side of the lake at present. Went by my friend Bobby's place and parked at his dock but the house was still closed up so didn't knock. Went back to roaming the lake till I seen the big storm brewing to the south. Time to leave and was on my way from  Lakeside Cameron by 11A.           Stopped at the little church and got a bbq chicken dinner and that was it for the morning.           Worked on one garden plot and just tilled another with grass in it for the wife.   Was going to start on the other plot but found ants in it so put in some poision and with the storms brewing, put all up , came in and took a shower and chillin' for the rest of the day.

05 September 2015

Catching up!  Pear wine is in the Bubbler for the next month now. Not a lot of activity happening in the fermenter so changed to bottle.
Fermenter is busy with the starting process of Fig Wine now. Set it to draining yesterday afternoon so will finish get it ready for the yeast this morning.
Lost balance with the KLR and dropped it at the gate a few nights back bending the brake lever. So changed it out. Looks like damage to the right rear signal light but put it back in place and still works and is staying put so far. Need to do some more with it though.
Finally started learning Lake Arthur after years of fishing above and below it. Had a great 45 mins of fishing before running from rain showers. 5 bass pretty fast in just one pass in a cut. Stopped and talked to a buddy for a bit and ended up getting wet anyway running to the boat shed for cover.
Had started getting alarm for low oil level on the 90 Merc so checked it at the shed and it was low. Luck has it that a friend pulled in also about the same time and said he had some in his truck at the bridge. When the rain stopped , he went and got it for me. Saved a walk to the store from where I was at. I'll have some extra in the boat from now on.
Built a rack using 2" pcv and a 2 x 4 to store garden tools under the carport, Came out pretty neat.

Think I will put the luggage system back on Bandit. Thought about selling the luggage but would be a hassle with packaging , plus having a few scrapes from my crash a few years ago.

Watermelons plants starting to flower behind the shop from the seeds a friend gave me from Sugartown melon he bought. We'll see how that's gonna work out at this time of year. Also have some cucumber  and tomato plants happening. Gonna leave a couple in the hot house for grins.

Today, well, we'll see what the winds of fate blow our way. ;-)

22 August 2015

Pear wine in the making. Boiled the sliced pears for awhile to soften them up and used a mixer to cut them up finer, Drained all the juice though some loose cloth and let cool to room temp before adding chemicals to start the process. After about 26 hours added about 6 cups of sugar to 3 gallons of liquid bring the Spc Grav to 1.070. Sprinkle in a pack of wine yeast, stirred, and put the cover on tight.

Went to Station 2 to get 300 gal tote tank with trailer for future grave washing. Notice right trailer light not working so need to fix that soon.

The left on Suzy for Lake Arthur and a glass of wine, then to Carolyns for fun and it was fun. Back home and swap to the truck to go get some fried chicken and home to eat it. Checked on the wine and it was bubbling away.

Sat morning walk then to Auto Store for supplies to re do trailer wiring. Got home and pulled the right light off to clean up contact points but light still dim but working now. Redid ground in front of the trailer but no help there either. Was getting pretty sweaty so put all together , put trailer outside and will build a new wiring harness when the weather cools off in a month or 3.

Now, motocross to watch.

17 August 2015

Poker run for a friend's son about summed up Saturday. Did it on the KLR. Then getting home and forgetting about Motocross but got the results in the morning and RD and KTM gets the Championship and swept the event with 2 firsts. Way to go Ryan. Brings back and old saying I heard around the tracks in the '50's. He whom wins at the slowest Pace is the better rider. Makes sense.

But, did get to watch a bit of Live Fishing at the Elite top 12 round yesterday and was fun watching amart do his thing. The got to watch AMA Pretoria TT and the front 2 put on a show but Henry#17 got the holeshot and all Mees #1 could do was keep him honest, which he did. But they distance themselves from the pack pretty good.

Then to the Walgreens for monthly drugs and then to Chozen Frozen and saw my buddy there so stopped for 3 beers. Came home, and Netflix time.

This morning was filled with the morning walk about then replacing a couple wires from the battery to a two wire hook up at the handlebars for the GPS and Charging and Air pump. Been wanting to clean that up.
Now back in the room and chilling. ;-)

15 August 2015

Drifting away from writing lots here again. Let's see. Things.
Way too much beer a day or so ago with friends. Need to stop that fast.
Installed volt meter and new brighter LEDs for the signal light flasher alert. Love them.
Did a Poker Run for an injured bike rider last Sat. Was okay. And on the bandit where I needed to carry a passenger.
Nothing happening boat wise and been too hot to go out.
Transplanted watermelon plant and built a cover over them for protection from direct sunlight.
Bottle wine and played with some already made.
Installed Win 10 on all 3 of my computers and gave one computer not upgradeable to the American Legion in Lake Arthur. They need to furnish the rest for it. Still have an old XP run puter in the garage for games of old. ;-)

11 July 2015

As the time flys by. And , the things to log down in the few weeks that have passed by.
Cancelled trip to Chesley Fam Reunion in North Iowa. Wasn't that excited about going anyway so with wife's bro in law having major medical problems, decided to stay home.

Many figs so far this year. Have canned about 6 pints so far. About as much as I want to cook at one time.

Rude awaking on making sure the freezer door is shut when walking in the garage and seeing purple on the floor. Didn't loose anything but took 24 hours to re freeze all the berries and figs and tomatoes in there.

Last two fishing trips produced hardly a  bite much less boating anything. But , not that serous an attempt at it. Enjoy just getting out in the boat. Loving the new trolling motor set up for sure.

Down to a couple water melons left in the yard so in the near future need to get some more cukes and tomatoes planted in the hot house. Will work on that later this morning.

Both bikes doing very well so nothing to work on there. Generator gonna need the carb recleaned soon.  Powerwasher doing fine and lawnmowers doing fine also.

Been playing with the GoPro and helmet rig. Has it's plus and minus for sure. Thinking of someway to rig up one of Canon G cameras on the bike.

Motocross this afternoon starting at noon if I can catch it on computer live feed. Moto GP in the morning for sure. Need to check on flat tracking also. Don't remember it they are running this weekend or not.

On to the next.

22 June 2015

The days fly by as you get older I think. And, as the days get hotter, the outside activity slows down for me. But,
The Graden, a great crop of tomatoes and cucumbers and bell peppers. Still waiting on the two little cantaloupes I see happening, and the dozen or so Watermelons of both red and yellow meat. And causing the back yard to look like a jungle.
The Dewberry crop is near done. Gave several gallons away and still have several gallons in the freezer. Also a batch of Dewberry wine happening.
Also in the wine department, put some fruit wine back in a jug and added a small amount of yeast and more sugar to it. Sweetened it a bit and looks like APV is up to near 2%. Hmmmmmmm. So, after a week of it sitting and no action in the water trap, rebottled it and have it sitting.
Still have some Dew berry and one bottle of fig wine from last year.
Think I need to make smaller amounts as 5 gallons is a lot of wine.

On  the bikes,  Noting done to Suzy but ride and still loving my time with that bike.
The KLR kinda makes me work more on things I do to it. And sometimes not doing it correctly and having to redo it. Finally got the carb working good and most of the problems were my adjusting things the wrong way. But, it's finally doing good cept for the drain plug seeping a little. Need to work on that next oil change.

The boat > Decided to change to a 24 volt trolling motor system at a cost of about 1500 dollars. Could of went cheaper but wanted some features that required the extra, plus helping out a pro fisherman with expenses on the batteries.  Have the old system for sale but only two calls on it with no sale yet. Still have the one from my Alumaweld boat up in the garage and need to pull it down and see about it and put it up for sale also.

With the high water from the rains , have not been out on the water much in the past months but starting to look like normal weather so need to get some early morning stuff in .

House, still repairing what comes up and and painting.
And , that's about it for now.

07 June 2015

Looks like I got out of the habit of posting here.
Well, Since last posts, Put Gold Valves , 5 wt fluid and 1.1 springs on the Bandit. Still not sure I did it right on the stack. But did have to cut an inch off the spacers to get 1.5 in sag.

Gold valves in the KLR forks also with 10 wt fluid.
Had been having a rich running problem at idle for a few months after doing the KLX needle conversion. Went back in the carb and checked all except the float system. ???? Same problem upon reassemble. Took it out and just really run up the rpm and let it back drag at high rpm several times.Bingo! Back to normal.

Took KLR back end linkage all apart and clean, greased, reassembles. All it good.

Nitro Boat,  Converted to a 24V system trolling motor with optima batts and a 3 back charger. All nice. But, forgot about front mount depth/fish finder being on same system and ruined it with 24V input. So, ordered a Gamin Edge 151 and found a 12v source in the front. Needed to move it anyway as the old one was in the way of the new and larger trolling motor.

Painting on house with the end in sight, I think. LOL. Blue and Grey this time.

Think that is about caught up for the last few months  LOL

27 March 2015

Pert near the whole month gone. Been a fairly busy one at that with the opening of fishing at the reserve , maintenance on equipment, gardening and riding the bikes. Not too good on catching fish, in fact so hurting pretty good in lower abdomen after the last trip. Due to too much time spend on the feet practicing pitching the bait. Need to do not so much and return to my fishin chair back in the boat instead of the little seat. But, it healed pretty good in a few days of inactivity so back on song.

Put a keel guard on the boat, heck of a job for one person but we got it done. Had a little running light out on the tounge of the trailer and took it appart  to see what it was about, being an enclosed unit , ordered a replacement from Bass  Pro  ( 2 for about 15 bucks ) and when they come in , went and tested lights with battery charger to see which one and they both be working now. Sigh! .

Craftman lawnmower stripped out plastic teeth on on drive wheel  so ordered 2 of them from Sears for 50 bucks. When getting them in , cleaned and greased and installed them. Put on a nu air cleaner from Stines for about 10 bucks and test cut some of the yard. Alls good there.

Today, we'll let it happen. ;-)

11 March 2015

With our weather, not a whole lot going on. Maintenance pretty much up on all motorized things around here. Even took the boat trailer jack apart and cleaned/greased the wheel and swivel.
What I didn't do was put a heat source in the green house for the last freeze and lost some brand new sprouts. Oh well, Just plant some more.
At least, it's not drizzling or pouring rain this morning. But, some more is on the way. Been a very wet March so far. With a bit of under 40F weather also. But, have spent more time indoors than outdoors for sure. A couple short bike rides and one boat run is about it.
time marches on! ;-)

05 March 2015

Been awhile since I've visited here. But, time marches onward. Have been able to get some bike time in on both bikes and even out in the boat yesterday in a t-shirt. Enjoyable run. Another major winter storm bearing down on us at present and have watch the temps drop 4 degrees F in the hour Ive been up. So,reckon not a lot gonna happen outside today or tomorrow.
Doing good on my No Bar for Lenten Season. Needed to get out of that habit anyway.

13 February 2015

Great times in the last week or so. Had the boat out a couple times to enjoy the water and run it. A bit of motorcycle riding on both bikes and getting up with the garden plots. Evening killing a little snake in one of them. Surprise to see on out at this time. But, we have been having near 70 degree afternoons in the last weeks at times.
Got the green house put up and things planted in it. Watermelon, cukes, zukenies ,
BC went to her sister's for a few days. One of her sister's boys getting married this weekend. So , me and da Luce have the house to ourselves.
Speaking of Luce, A quick trip to the fire station and back home and she headed to the bed room and her nest on the foot of my bed.

04 February 2015

did have good weather for a few days and got some riding in and an afternoon of fishing with Luce and Da Nitro on the bayou. Did make a run all the way to the river just mainly to run the boat. Kinda studdering under 2500 rpm .
Did check the Merc and found a bit of oil on the plugs but pretty sure that comes from the slow running when loading the boat. Cleaned them and put back in plus filled the oil reservior up. Order a set of plugs and got the resistor plugs as the book recommended.

Found a bolt missing which was the reason I was noticing a little wobble on the front faring of Suzie. Replaced it and check all else on the bike. All looking good.

Cut a little relief hole on the faring for the KLR and it seems to help on the buffing coming off the top  of the windshield.

Last two days been not to good weather. Yuk winter for sure.

Still not getting the new program from Garmin to work so will have to call support, as always have to . With them, it's never simple.

Poo Yi, drank way too much wine  a  few days ago so laying off that stuff for a bit. ;-)

26 January 2015

Did get the new Thermobob system installed on the KLR. Job went pretty smoothly , except for cutting the pump too short ( miss read 1 3/4 as 1 1/4 and still only cut it 1 inch. )  So ended up having to go to Auto Zone and get a piece to correct that. They even gave it to me so I bought a couple containers of injector cleaner. Need some in Bandit and da Truck.

So far, have put about 200 miles on the conversion to the cooling system and really it does do the job of keeping the temperature of the engine constant. One more thing that makes this bike a keeper at 15 years old.

Yesterday , decided to get out on Bandit for a run. Egan, Crowley, Rayne, Kaplan, Abbeville , Henry, Abbeville, Kaplan, Guedan, Lake Arthur and back to Jennings as a few glasses of wine with friends at the Legion in LA.

Oh yes, did get the little green house made of very thin tubing and re-inforced plastic  up and tied down. It survived the front that came though a few days ago so need to start getting it finished to get some seeds started.

Tomorrow, Dr Wilder appointment for physical. Feeling good so should go fast.

19 January 2015

The Seahawk/Packer Football game was one of the most exciting games I've seen this season. The NE / Colts game, much less so. With the Seahawks returning to the Super bowl and the Pats going meet them, Hope it as good a game as the Seahawk/GB game was.
I did enter two 10 buck pools for the games yesterday but don't know my numbers so will have to pass by today sometimes and check and see if I won. Also have a block on the 5000 buck pool that's gonna pay 100 bucks ever score change if you have the numbers, but 100 entries.

Other things is started putting the little hot house together and it's really flimsy. But, if it serves the purpose , I'll make it much stronger.

Did put an Idirum sparkplug in the KLR and lo and behold. Just had put it back together and the mailman arrives with the modifacation kit for the thermstat / cooling system upgrade. Oh well, did burn some more gas out of the tank yesterday afternoon before the football games started. And, achieved 40,000 miles on it before coming back home.

Did go some more pics of the Heywood building , but mostly of the new city hall work and posted in Facebook for peeps to see and comment on.

Later.

14 January 2015

Can't say anything exciting has been happening. Been so long since I've been on one of my bikes I may need to take lessons on how to ride again. Probably about 3 weeks last Sunday.
Weather has been super yucky and cold. Just can't get myself up for any activity in it.
Also trying to chill on the eating. Got carried away in the last months and picked up about 8 or 10 lbs so gotta know that off.
Also keeping the drinking habit at bay. So far this year, no beer, only wine and twice too much of that. But, keeping a record of how much  drinking and spending so that should help on that. ;-)
40°F with a wind out there now so not fun for me.

11 January 2015

A few more days have passed and I'm still alive. Haaaaaaah!  But, think I woke up an ulcer drinking too much wine the other day. Gotta stop that. But, it's more better on day 2. But, also, over eating on a barbecue plate didn't help either so need to cull that habit also.
Weather has been sucky for the passed 3 weeks and raining at present. Only good thing is intertainment on tv vai football and motorcycle racing.
Was tracking wine drinking costs for this year and already since the 1st  is 27 bucks. Hmmmmmm. Not much to say about that cept it's gonna get less and less.

Ordered a new keyboard for this computer as never did like this dark lettered one. Also, the KLR is getting treats with a new Idium sparking plug and a Thermo Bob 2 temp control unitl  Probably about 150 or 160 total for all 3 items.
Also about 108 buck order from BassPro with some baits, string and one reel to replace the one I lost last Summer going too fast over a wake. Getting ready for March and the Reserve.
With luck, that'll be it for extra spending this month. ;-)

09 January 2015

Awesome the banana / oatmeal / pecan cookies I made yesterday. Need to get some more bananas today. ;-)
Fast response from Principle Bank on my IRA that since turning 71 , have to draw out  a percentage every year so the gov and get their taxes. LOL. Do that anyway. Fax them the info one morning and money in the account locally next day. Fast indeed.
Still have not been out on one of the bikes  and it's gonna be 3 weeks Sunday. But, have run the twice. Run the generator last week so good on that. Really need to run the pressure washer but not looking forward to hooking up the water hoses till it warms mu much more than the 30 to 40 degree F range.
Gonna be a good do nothing day for sure. ;-) Movies and ?????

03 January 2015

Amazing, I did log in 9252 miles between the two bikes this year. 4585 on the KLR and 4667 on the Bandit. Not sure on the truck as I've never taken year end ometer reading on it. But, I will this year.
Bad thing is , I only left Louisiana a couple times on rides to Orange, Port Arthur. Stayed South of Alexandria and East of the Basin.
Did get in about 60% of the roads of Vermillion Parish on my Parish Quest to ride most all of the roads on my bikes. 75% of that being on the KLR for the gravel and beat up sealed roads. Loved my Last Year of 2014 and gonna Love Me Some 2015 to do more riding. And, a major trip in the Truck.  With the KLR on the back.

02 January 2015

Enjoyed the noon meal at the neighbors yesterday. Meeting new people and old ones. Then home for the football games for sure. Ended up watching and reading till near 11 pm. With the weather,  rain and overcast, not much else was happening for me.
Had someone wanting to know how much I wanted for my Bandit and I sent a message saying 3K for everything I have for it along with it. Then one inquiring about my GoPro that I don't too much care for. I quoted him 250 bucks. He won't be available till monday and I might not sell it. Thinking that's too much of a loss on what it cost me.

Today, not a lot going on due to weather , again. A trip to the fire station and let the dog roam at the bayou and then home. Been watching football since about 11:30 and dozing and reading  Zen and The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance.

Was raining but that's moved on , but, with more coming.
