14 December 2019

The biggest shocker since the last post is Da Son had to have a couple stints installed in the upper heart artery. Wife and daughter went to N. O. right after finding out about it.  Was a very fast course of events from chest pains to work done.
Now he's dealing with getting his health and meds in order.
Did get one of my photos as the cover photo for a Chat Group I'm in  < C5 Corvette 1997-04. One of those times you just see beauty in the rear view and stop and get a pic.

And the kumquat tree is loaded. And the grapefruit tree is loaded. Both getting just right.
One more batch of wine just about completed.  A small batch of 4  1.5 liter bottles of satsuma wine. And we letting it set in the 1.5 bottles for awhile before testing and rebottleing.

Finally put castors on a work table I had assembled for the garage a few years back to get it about the floor easier.  The pic is when I just had put it together a year or so ago.

Then yesterdays ride about in the car and coming into Egan with a great sky in front of me and did get this picture.
Just the headlight cover on the car showing I'm in the car.

So, till the next.

12 November 2019

And on this morning I'm up since 01:30 watching the therometer drop as time fly's by.
Been a good week since getting Da Car back and adding a few hundred miles to it.

We did have the Veronie Family Reunion in Basile last Saturday with great success.  Uncles and Aunts represented by their kids.
My family was my wife, daughter, brother in law and his daughter.
Eli , Horace , Clarise, Edna and Norris were the families there.
Met a lot of cousin's kids for the 1st time.
.

A few pictures of the families represented.

Starting at the top is Andrus Chesley family representing Edna Veronie Chesley along with Sister's Husband and daughter Trisha.
Then the Clarise Veronie Cart Family
Next is the Elie Veronie Fam with Charles Veroine and fam.
The Horace Veronie Fam with Olan Veronie's big family.
Then the Noris Veronie Family with Verlin's family, and Trudy , Humert's daughter.

Many thanks to Betty and Olan Veronie Fam for getting this together and making it happen.

08 November 2019

Next cold front on the way! 40's predicted.  But, at this Midnite hours , the main rains have come and went.
Da Car back from Raginracin and 2316 spent on that job. Great people. Love their shop and location. And now, face book friends with the mechanic that worked on my car.
And the kitchen window project is done after 4 days of work by Kobuli , our grandson in law. And Da Wife redone the curtain set up for it. So, that was the last of the window to change out from about 1947 when the house was built as close as I can figure by abstracts. And us having it since 1969.

Did cross the 144,000  mile mark in Da Car.

A pic of the dash.

East service road at LA 99 in Welch, La.

26 October 2019

What a week!
Car set up to go to Raginracin Monday to get the engine work done. 2400 bucks to get that done we hope. Hopefully, they will not find nothing amist while getting everything apart and back together.

Yesterday was Stress Test on the treadmill for my cardio check up. Saw the heart rate get to 126 and I was breathing deep.  So shut down at 7 mins and 30 seconds.  Just getting back to good walking now since the knee so need to work on that.
The nurse was kinda edgy about the chart reading for the EKG but all else she was happy with. So, conference with Dr Dupre next week and she will let me know something.

So, pretty happy with the way the knee is coming back.  Not 100% yet but put it in the 80% range.
Now, if the lower back would get there, but, I wonder if it every will.

Next great thing was our great friends from Germany were here to greet me when I got back from my appointment. Been 7 years. Had a great visit around the table then to Mike's seafood to eat. More great times.

So great week for sure.

18 October 2019

Decided to get the oil leaks on the Vette fixed.  Cheaper than selling and upgrading and don't need want any more power.
So, off to Raginracin yesterday morning for an estimate on changing out all the leaking engine gaskets, rear and front seals and damper pulley.   2400 bucks is very good to me with all the work that has to be done to get to all the gaskets.
So,  gave him 500 to cover gaskets and down payment on the work. He'll call when gets the parts in and we'll go from there.

Other is too much wine for two days straight. Gotta stop that and yesterday it was non. ;-)  Gotta keep that from being a habit.   The drinking part and not the non part. LOL.

Did redo my Light Room Library from scratch as it was pretty messed up. Re loaded just the 2019 directory in there and need to put stuff in there and make changes while in LR. ;-)
Old stuff from years pasted don't need to be there as I have it in other drives.

Not a lot happening since the last post.  So, till; the next.

14 October 2019

Moon shot from last night with drifting clouds and lots of light pollution. Good thing as this early morning ( 04:30 ) raindrop falling from the sky.

No walking about the last few days as me and cold are not the best of friends. But did do something with a few pics I took awhile back at the I-10 park.
3 photos combined in LRCC.

Did jack up the car to check underneath for leaks.  Yep, still leaking oil but not any worst than has been for the last 2 years.  Reckon I need to go to Ragin' Racing by Scott and talk to them about some work that needs to be done if I'm gonna keep the car.
Checking values , I'd be lucky to get 10 thousand for it and have about 15,000 in it including buying price.
And probably could get about 6,000 for my 03 truck.
So, I'll get me and the car up to the place in Scott next week and see about getting an estimate on work to be done. Pretty sure we looking at a couple thousand bucks at least.

And today! Gonna go see cuz at Tepetate to discuss up coming Veronie reunion. And, get the word spread about.

09 October 2019

9/30
Oh well, Star Trek episode done for the morning, Breakfast done, Pills done. ( 2 of them LOL ) . Guess it's time to get ready for the morning walk about.
Hope all have a great day. Tire change for the front of the Vette is the mode of the morning.
Alright! One set of new Toyo tires back on the car and a little test drive to seat them in before Alignment appointment this afternoon. 47 bucks for mounting and balancing and tire disposal at H & H and a visit with my old buddy and his wife Herb Touchet.
Now, chill mode.
oooooooohhhhh weeeeeeeee. Love the way the car works with the new tires by Walmart, mount and balance by H & H and alinement job by Robbies. 330 bucks for all work done.

Well, about half the yard cut. Yea me. LOL! Now, back to netflix.
10/3
Well heck! Thought I was gonna help a young lady that pulled into the graveyard and was looking at her tires. Asked her what was the problem. " Low Tire Light " Did seem like the right front was just a touch down. Went to my truck to get my 12v air pump and the rubber hose broke. LOL! Oh Well, I tried.
Then to LYON's for some goodies and home.
Next project, Can I fix the air pump? Fixing to find out. LOL.
hope all have a lovely day.
10/4
Was back it with the Canon XS50 this morning for our Fair Parade with some Stearman fly overs. Here is the URL to my photosite with 50 somewhat pics I process and kept. Enjoy.
Image may contain: car and outdoor

Yarn! Good nap and now get the gps loaded with a place in Scott and get Da Vette cleaned a bit for me and Da Bren's trip when she gets off work today.
Been a lazy day with the mile walk about the hood being my only exersize so far.
And another super fine day for sure.
10/5
Well, did keep a few pics from the walk about the Park this early morning. Planes flying and a few peeps walking and of course the ducks to keep you company. Really do love my life.
Image may contain: sky, tree, outdoor and nature
Image may contain: tree, sky and outdoor
Well , that's enuff football for the day. LSU 43 Utah St 6 Time to roam! Well YES! But where to? Hmmmmmmmm.
10/7
Hello Monday and what do you have for me today? Hmmmmmm. For sure some Beth Hart in the ear buds this morning. Love her blues style.
Do think it's gonna be a Suzy Da Bandit morning. The winds are stirring.
Course we gotta go visit the ducks at day break and watch maw earth rotate towards the big ball of fire in the sky on it's 280th day of rotation this year.
Not much roaming happening this afternoon with the approaching weather. But, so far, all tapering off before getting here. Sigh!
Tis okay as another 110 miles roaming this morning with Suzy Da Bandit. Just a round about covering Hayes, Bell City, Iowa, Kinder, Elton, Hathaway the back way and home. Still on the quest of turning 100K miles on that ometer.
Figs in the bucket to thaw for future wine. Well yes.
A few pics from this mornings early walk about the I 10 park. The 4 language post at the park and I can only read one. LOL.
Which looks better on the pic of the coming dawn. Vertical or Horizontal ?
And most all the ducks were on the North end of the pond this morning but hit the water soon and swam to the South side.
A glass of wine at Big O's, a little bottle of wine at Bubba's. a trip to Lyons for peanut butter ,. plus. Netflix time I think. LOL
10/8
Well Hello 66F or 19C. But do see clouds in the sky on my early morning look about while coffee and oatmeal happening.
So , we'll see what the day brings. Do have figs thawing in the shop so will be working with that this morning after the walk about.
Hope all have a great day.
Yesterday was great for me and another one on the way.
Image may contain: sky, tree, outdoor and nature
Nice and cool walking about the Greenwood and Calvary this morning.
Then C & C at the Fire Dept. Construction having fun with the old concrete pad that was put in for the old tower we got from the railroad peeps years back.
Now, sorting music time. With some Beth Hart at present.
Well, me and da car did roam this afternoon via 1126 to 99 to 14 to 101 to 165 to 190 to 97 to 368 to 91 to I-10 to 26 to Big O's for a couple glasses of wine then home. Hard to beat a buck a glass of wine during happy hour.
And that gets us to date so till the next.

28 September 2019

Wow! Didn't realize I had that much mileage on my front tires on the Car already. 25,000 miles on the fronts and 22.6 thousand on the rears. Lookin' at a front tire change in the near future due to wear problem probably caused by not getting the alined quick enough when new. Once a wear pattern sets in , it don't quit. Sigh.
So, gonna run these fronts till really bad on the left front then change out the fronts. '
So, windshield cleaned on the Truck and check up done on the Car. Gonna be in the chill mode.

Well, me , da car and da hard rain all met up at I-10 coming into Jennings on LA 97.
Into the garage and the leaf blower out to dry the car off and wipe it down. One wash job with no soap and city water. Yes!
Now, chill mode for the rest of this day for sure.
But., did get to Egan to visit my lovely niece. And to Iota to visit my lovely cuz and her daughter. Then to Tepetate to visit another fine cuz, his wife and one of the sons that pop in while I was there.

Sept 19
Well Hello Thursday and I did go and check out the sky with passing clouds lit up by the cities light pollution. And, wetness falling from the sky. Gonna be another under roof type of day I'm thinking.
Probably go though a few of the STUFF drawers in my shop and garage. And/Or move all this stuff I'm facing now and convert the old 220 receptacle in the wall to 2 110v units. A left over from when this room was built and I was into HAM radio. Not been used in may years.
Hope all have a great day!

Sept 22
Well, MotoGP main race in Spain is over. A run away for the winner for sure.
Now, the rest of the day! SC card out of camera from yesterday afternoon.
And running from the big storm near LA , headed West away from it, a big circle and back into it.

Been 5 weeks today since me and the bandit been out and about so just had to test how the knee was doing. Plus, we were lonesome for each other to be on the road abit, even if just around town area.
1st time at the newly done Walmart/Murphy and amazed they have non ethanol gas also. Been awhile since seen a pump offering both.
Exercise done for the day with the mile walk at the graveyard then walking behind the self propelled craftsman to do the yard.
Sept 23
Well, the 12 yrs old Dixon ZTR has went cripple in the left rear drive. Sigh! I'll try changing the oil and filter in it tomorrow as a hope that it may be wanting that. At 1200 bucks if you can find the part, it may go to the side of the road. Sigh!
Sept 24
Well , did roam a bit. Up to Basile and thought I would have a beer at the Road House but it was just a bit after 3PM and they don't open till 4. So me and da Vette gone gone gone.
A pass though LA and into Jtown then to Bubba's North for a wine and conversation with friends.
Did pick the only two lemons on my little lemon tree and tested one and Yes, do taste like lemon. LOL.

Up date on the Lemon tree after picking the two lemons off of it the next day the leaves started shriveling up and dieing.  Watering didn't help none.
Sept 25
Yahoo! One broke Dixon lawnmower gone. Didn't take long after I told the guy cutting the neighbors yard that if he knew anyone needing it for parts or to replace the left drive to come and get it. Got back from my morning walk about the dead and it was gone. YES!
Well Walmart. Did go see you to order a couple front tires for my car but no one was able to operate the Auto Parts counter or computer. Yes it was not quite 8AM yet. But, after a morning ride about on Suzy, I'll return and see if someone has come to work that can order tires. Hard to be their prices especially with my 10% discount card.  Yes the Vette needs new fronts and after that , alignment .

Today >   We added some more miles to the Bandit,  then dinner from the church and in the chill mode.

15 September 2019

HELLO Sunday Morning and what a great start to the day.
Really thinking the truck be back healthy battery and circuit wise. Not sure about the A/C but works good enuff around town.
Lovin da knee process as it survived normal morning walking pace but only did .7 miles this morning.
May have to drag the KLR out for a spin about town and see how that goes.

14 September 2019

Well, I'll know this morning if I succeeded in the battery drain problem. Found the 10 Amp fuse for the A/C Relay passing some amps.  So, 20 bucks later and a new A/C relay.  So far in yesterdays runs and check , battery voltage good.
A/C itself is not good.  had very high pressures on the Low side and added Freon but no help.  Will check a few more things this morning.

Think I will break out the KLR for a test ride for the knee today.

And nothing else in the plans.

10 September 2019

4AM comes around and outside to check battery on charger and battery tray paint job. And the paint was still sticky.  So, introduced it to fire and burnt all the paint off and wire brushed and are blow down.  repainted with just the Green spray can this time. So, we'll see how that drys.

11AM Dental is what's happening later today for sure.
And Dental did happen.   One loose fragment of a tooth removed and refilled. And 149.00 bucks for the visit. Glad nothing had to be numbed.

So, onwards with the rest of the day.

09 September 2019

Phew! Getting hot out there in the yard. But got a few more things done.  Now , onwards with the rest of the day
Decided to pull the battery on Dat Truck this morning and wow!  Glad I did so off to Autozone we went with the old battery in the rear of the Vette.
And, what Dat Truck got today. But, paint work drying and battery getting a full charge before installment

Did find some rust on about 1/3rd to the battery plate so pulled it out, cleaned and painted.  Also the part of the truck it bolts to cleaned and painted.  Then the little bolts cleaned and the heads painted.

Boss Lady attacked the grass around the edge of the house really early this morning.  So, I fired up the Craftsman with the mulching mode happening and went of the edge of her work evening things out. Then to the back yard and cut grass, mulched leaves under the fig tree and  then made a pass on the side of the garage.
So we be back to watching the series Jericho on Netflix and then we'll see what the winds of fate blow up. ;-)

07 September 2019

Why Hello Saturday morning with your stars out goodly.
Did fire up Dat truck and we went for a spin about the city and the idle problem is a fixed deal with the change out of the Throttle Body Assy. Now to keep and eye on battery drain normal vs dead and see if I corrected that problem also. Time will tell.

One tree in the front yard is history and waiting for the stump grinder part to happen. Really do think a Satsuma tree is going to replace it.

good mile walk and the knee is still not 100% but hmmmmm maybe 80? Load of clothing washed and hung on the line in the back yard to dry. Truck washed and wiped down after a ride about and fill up. Next is ?????????? The Winds of Fate for sure.

04 September 2019

Ailments of the truck continued.  Finally went on online to find out about the problem and well DuH! My heater/ac fan staying on and draining the battery has been a problem for years with this product. Even a recall on it up to 150,000 miles or 10 years.
So, to You Tube for a fix. Looked at several instructional video's and found out just pulling the Fan Fuse in the main fuse box will stop that problem but knocks out 5 speed. So, we charged the battery again yesterday afternoon and pulled the fuse. Drove the truck around a bit and went though a relearn of the TB system. Check the A/C and does work and even a low speed fan which been a long time since that worked. Did put it to 5 and it did shut the fan off.
So, parked it for the night and this morning did check to see if it had power and YES.

Now for the TBS set up to arrive and get that changed out.

Wife and I out for a ride about and ice cream mile shake was good.

Da Knee is doing great and starting to load it up more and more. But, still leary with it. Will keep working with it everyday and probably back on the bikes by the end of this week.

Did plant the squash seeds from Dee in my old oil change container with potting soil and plant enhancing soil. Used 8 empty toilet paper centers to plant the seeds and we gonna see how this works out as per the transfer.

Did take the KLR off the lift and the cut down side stand is perfect with the inch I took out of it and welded a big washer to it.  Be anxious to ride it again with the lowered status.

The batch of elderberry/muscadine wine came out really well and well liked by the people whom I gave so too.  So, will start on another batch of dewberry wine this morning. Get it defrosting for sure.

Well, that's about it till the next.

28 August 2019

Well well,  Brenda Dale Fontenot Chesley makes it to 72 years old today.  And, 52 years and 2 months of being married to me.  So, we go to her happy place this evening for a meal and ( well YES ) French music.

KLR ready to roll with lowering links back on, properly installed dog bone bolts and nuts facing the right direction so the chain does not have a chance to eat up the threads on the bolts.  Front end dropped about 12 or so mm's.  Will adjust rear sag when can get on it and ride again.

Suzy still on the center stand and on the Battery Tender till we can boogy again also.

Da Left Knee >  Healing good but still can't put full weight on it. But, getting better everyday. Still working it with walking and the rowing machine.  But, not using it to climb steps yet. A day by day thing for sure.

A visit by an old neighbor and working companion back from my Chiles days was great.  Had not seen Ted in several years. They were raised in this hood and then moved on with life to different areas.

Had to change out side marked light bulb in the Drivers side front so changed out both of them to LED while at is. Truck getting really close to the 100K miles mark on the ometer.  about 160 or so miles left to go. I'll for sure take a picture of that. As did the Vette at 139999.  Guess Suzy da Bandit gonna have to wait a bit before I complete another 4000 miles and get it's ometer to 100K miles. Even though it really is over 100k miles due to Speedohealer, I want to see the ometer roll over. The KLR getting to 100K ain't gonna happen in my life time for sure. Did not even put a 1000 miles on it last year and less this year.

Been enjoying the last 2 days of missing rain showers for sure. Came across a few wet road areas yesterday but the rains had come and went. YES!

Thinking about Da Luce a little this morning.  Been awhile since the morning of March 4 while I stayed up with her till her last breath at around 04:30 that Monday morning.  And, still get tears at times thinking of her.  As am as I type this.

22 August 2019

Dental visit done but she found a crack in a tooth so another trip next month. Sigh!

Some good afternoons just cruisin' back roads in the car. Love that.

Knee doing good but still not able to put full weight on it so we good there.

Working trying to fix old wind up clock and wind up key slipped and took a little chunk of meat out of my left fore finger yesterday so being good to it with meds and bandages twice a day.

Need to start wearing gloves more often for sure.

Did put lowering dog bones on KLR but a messed up bolt due to chain hitting it due to the face I installed them the wrong way last time I had it apart. So, order a used set plus another side stand. The side stand came in today. Need to see if I need to shorten it or not after the bike is all back together. .

Did cut and weed eat the yard.  Did de-grass a planting plot that had tomatoes in it. May till it tomorrow. We'll see how the winds blow.

16 August 2019

Well Hello Friday morning and time to get moving. 2nd get up of the day for sure, Again! LOL A trip to Walmart and then to Walgreens in the menu for this morning. But, since the drugs department at Walgreens don't happen till 9A. no rush.
And sheesh did I get involve in a rain storm in Central Lake Charles yesterday. Not fun in all the traffic for sure. But, we survived and after one beer at Loggerheads, and bee line to the house.
Gonna be a great day and wife asks as she out the door. What are doing today? No clue cept for this morning. The winds have not started blowing yet.

10 August 2019

Wow! 3 days of babying my knee and movies to keep me busy. Hmmmmmmmm. Wonder how I made it through the month of chilling after heart surgery? LOL! Probably was drugged and in pain more.
Oh well, not gonna rush it. Tis what it tis. And many movies on NetFlix I've never seen.
Reminds me that I watched a guy walking very stiff legged on one leg awhile back at the I-10 park and asked him about his leg. Knee operation not being too successful. Next few times I saw him over a 2 week period , was getting better all the time.
Well , back to the movie. Cheers.
