18 December 2021

And the Christmas Holidays arriving. And time still flying by!

Starting near where I left off on the last entry.

Me and my gals just in from 3 hrs of eating and roaming. Course gotta take Dee to new places she's never been to down here.
So, after the dinner at Greens, and to Lake Arthur for a walk around the wharf. Off we went West bound on 14. Getting back at a bit after 2 when leaving at 11A.

Picture with Brenda Da Wife left and Dee Da Sister in Law on the right.

And still doing my near daily walks at Greenwood and Calvary Cemeteries

Still coming along on the new school being built on the south side of town on la 26. Suppose to be ready for next years school session.

Brought our son Tysen back to New Orleans a few weeks ago and this cafe where we had hamburgers was so neat. And, across the alley had this on the wall.

Did find out what they were after some research when getting home. Aliens by Fatboy painters in New Orleans.

And Dec 2nd started another batch of wine , Mulberry / Blueberry. Had those in the freezer for near 6 months or better so time to involve them in wine making. ;)
Ended up with very near 3 gallons and about 6 lbs of sugar brought the Gravity up to 1.090. So added yeast the next day and let the wine making begin. ;-)

And December 9 rolls around and decided to check wine gravity and transfer to carboy 3 gal container. Gravity down to 1.040 this day. Coming along fine.

And at present since the 16th, Put the whole thing in the refrig to kill the yeast at a gravity of 1.010 which in theory is about 9% by volume alcohol. ;-) We"ll see how that works out.

Did finally finish reading the book by Sagan's daughter.

Very interesting read for sure.
And did order Contact by Carl Sagan this week also. Add to my collection of his stuff.

Another 1st was a trip with my gals to the Memorial Park in Lake Charles. Neat, very neat.

And that near catches us up todate. Did clean the wagon and put it up for the night in the garage is shares with the little trailer it needs to carry around if I need it. ;-)

Till the next.

26 November 2021

And Thanksgiving is over with.  YES!

Bit of a gathering at Dee's home with daughter's family, Son, Tysen and Bro in Law Bart .  Later Son in law's folks showed up for a visit. Great meal and BS section in the patio area. After about 2 hours of that it was time for me to escape back to the house. ;-)

Did see most all of the Lunar Eclipse a few days ago and got some good pictures.

Was quite an event to see as probably will never see another like this one.

Forgot to mention in the last instalment about a gathering at Dee's home with people from her late husband's family members. I only met one of them, Sherry, the lady in the blue shirt in front,  as she stayed a couple days before and after the event.

And Holly , Da DAughter took off with a crowd of ladies only family and a New Iberia trip to Avery Island.

So, until the next event!

19 November 2021

A friend remined me to catch up in here. Wow! Has been awhile since updating. Oct 3 was the last.

Well what's happened in this month and a half plus. Hmmmm!

Let's start off with my Ex-Grapefruit tree. I had trimmed it before a freeze and it didn't like it at all. Thought it might come back but it finally started having bark peeling at ground level so it's gone.

And the South Drive Way at the new school getting ready for concrete.

And the windows going in. Getting lots done.

And a couple moon shots in Oct. Got the Canon XS50 out and let it work for a change.
This on in October

And this one in November.

As per right now have it under the carport to shoot the eclipse. But just checked and not yet!

Did make a run down to Holly Beach last month to see what's happening and had the trip across the small ferry as the main was broke < Again>.

And Holly Beach coming back somewhat.  Didn't take pics of all the campers there now instead of expense homes as the picture shows.

And did have to go check out the Annual Sterman fly-in in October. Due to lots of bad weather, not the usually turn out but still neat.

And the new family gym was open for people to see what it's all about. Is a very neat place and I felt I had done a work out just looking at all the equipment. WOW!

The following pictures are from my stroll down main street here in Jennings on the Jennings Alive day. Pretty neat.

Did get a surprise last week when my adoptive family from California and now in Oklahoma stopped by for a few hours of a super great visit

With from left to right besides me. LOL !  Brenda Da Wife, Carylon , Dee < sister in law ,  Edith < Mom and Peggy.  So love them.

So Promise to get back in here later as watching and taking pics of the Lunar Eclipse.

04 October 2021

Wow! The time has flown by for the month of September and into October already.

What happen in September? Hmmmmmm.

A ride to Holly Beach to see how much has recovered from the storms last year. Many just replaces with campers so in case of a storm, can get it out of there.

One of my walks at the I-10 park in Jennings, The ducks always entertaining

A sunflower field NE of Welch was neat to see,  Kinda on a back road for sure.

This Craftsman lawn mower put to good use this year with all the rain. Cutting the yard about 2 times a week on the average

Love it when at a railroad crossing and taking pics of the drawing on the cars.  Some amazing work on many.

And the Grape fruit tree is no more Bad idea to trim it and get hit with a freeze.  Thought it was going to come back but what leaves that did come back fell off and the bark started peeling from around the base so just went ahead and cut it level with the ground.

Finally did check to see what was with the low output on the Wagon. Hooked up the gauges and a 50/100 psi reading.  Wow! Very low.  Added one can of freon and only brought it up to 115 so a trip to Oustalet's for it to do a vacuum and dye check. Getting it back and reading the work done > drained .8 lbs and put back in 1.2 lbs of freon so it was bad low. Went back this morning so they could use a light to make sure of no leak and all was good. And it's cooling as should.
And that bout catches up on Sep. Wishing all great winds to guide them

10 August 2021

And August arrived fast! And me with it > YES!

Did do my 40th fill up on the Traverse a few days ago. The figures on mileage climb fast when going down to one vehicle instead of 4 just a short 1.5 years ago.  And 11,202 my miles show's it's being used daily to the turn of about 60 miles per day average. Other facts the spreadsheet I keep on it show  2.14 to 2.70 for a gallon of gas at same gas station.  21.6 GPM on totally miles per gallon average.  515.7 gallons of gas with a total cost of 1,363.09 dollars

Did finish the concrete brick making project and used the last 2.5 80lbs sack of quickcrete to add to the little back entry to the Wife's Sewing room.  Next is to pressure wash and paint it.

Then was a transplant of my onion patch in the old wheel borrow body that getting pretty bad on the bottom. There was so many grass roots that when attempting to pull grass the whole bed was lifting. So, time for a redo on that dude. Pulled all the green onion plants and put them in a bucket of water. Put the whole root infested bed in the trash and 2 bags of garden soil later, the onions have a new home.

Only other things of interest for me last month was a Trip to New Orleans to bring a bunk bed to Tysen and a Great Visit with just Me, Brenda and Him. Loved it.  Great dinner at a little resturant and Da Wife paid. YES!
Went there on I-10 and back on US 90 for different views. Lot's of memories from the days I traveled those roads weekly for years.

Next was getting Sis In Law door bell situation working and luck has it that it was just a battery change on all of it. She was thinking of getting an electrician to look at it and I told her I was free.  ha ha ha ha.
Had a discussion about it when we went to our Sunday Dinner at Green's Restaurant where the food is GREAT!  Pic of Dee and Bren not knowing I'm taking a pic of them coming to the wagon.

Only other things happening in the last month is grass cutting about every 4 days, Weed eating about every 1.5 weeks.  Getting garden bed ready for Da Wife to plant beans. Which is a done deal.

So, let us see what the rest of August gonna bring out way. ;-)

05 July 2021

Wow! Over a Month since the last post!

So, let see what amazing things happened in my life  this month.

Foremost was Holly Da Daughter turning 48 yrs old and one of her friends massage me to send a flower arrangement to my house and surprise Holly with it. So , that did happen with Dee and Brenda present.

And Dee and Brenda talking while the flower arrangement for Holly just waiting for her to show.

And it came time for an oil/filter change on the Wagon at a bit over 4000 miles.  Oil life was showing 50%.  So  Mobil 1  10W30 and filter went in.

Want to check the air condition pressure next but such a pain to get to the Low Pressure port. So, Hmmm!

Last figures on my ride for the last fill up  (Jul 4) was 8888 miles since getting the car in Feb21.

$1,076.22 dollars in gas

And 21.6 miles per gallon overall.

Did get a rubber mat for the back space and it sat out in the sun and garage for 2 weeks to let the new smell deteriorate before putting it in.

Next is my many trips by the new school being

built on the South side of town off LA 26.

The 1st pic was from June 2, 2021

And this one from the 23rd of June. Getting that white side up. And you can see traces of the red covering that was first put up.

Then there was the concrete block making for the wife to put around her plants. My sis in law gave me 8  80LP bags of ready mix to deal with so. After 6 bags we have done all the small version of those she wants.

The finished product drying  in the sun.

And the mold with concrete drying.

And where they are ending up!!!!!!!!!!

Till the next!
