28 August 2019

Well well,  Brenda Dale Fontenot Chesley makes it to 72 years old today.  And, 52 years and 2 months of being married to me.  So, we go to her happy place this evening for a meal and ( well YES ) French music.

KLR ready to roll with lowering links back on, properly installed dog bone bolts and nuts facing the right direction so the chain does not have a chance to eat up the threads on the bolts.  Front end dropped about 12 or so mm's.  Will adjust rear sag when can get on it and ride again.

Suzy still on the center stand and on the Battery Tender till we can boogy again also.

Da Left Knee >  Healing good but still can't put full weight on it. But, getting better everyday. Still working it with walking and the rowing machine.  But, not using it to climb steps yet. A day by day thing for sure.

A visit by an old neighbor and working companion back from my Chiles days was great.  Had not seen Ted in several years. They were raised in this hood and then moved on with life to different areas.

Had to change out side marked light bulb in the Drivers side front so changed out both of them to LED while at is. Truck getting really close to the 100K miles mark on the ometer.  about 160 or so miles left to go. I'll for sure take a picture of that. As did the Vette at 139999.  Guess Suzy da Bandit gonna have to wait a bit before I complete another 4000 miles and get it's ometer to 100K miles. Even though it really is over 100k miles due to Speedohealer, I want to see the ometer roll over. The KLR getting to 100K ain't gonna happen in my life time for sure. Did not even put a 1000 miles on it last year and less this year.

Been enjoying the last 2 days of missing rain showers for sure. Came across a few wet road areas yesterday but the rains had come and went. YES!

Thinking about Da Luce a little this morning.  Been awhile since the morning of March 4 while I stayed up with her till her last breath at around 04:30 that Monday morning.  And, still get tears at times thinking of her.  As am as I type this.

22 August 2019

Dental visit done but she found a crack in a tooth so another trip next month. Sigh!

Some good afternoons just cruisin' back roads in the car. Love that.

Knee doing good but still not able to put full weight on it so we good there.

Working trying to fix old wind up clock and wind up key slipped and took a little chunk of meat out of my left fore finger yesterday so being good to it with meds and bandages twice a day.

Need to start wearing gloves more often for sure.

Did put lowering dog bones on KLR but a messed up bolt due to chain hitting it due to the face I installed them the wrong way last time I had it apart. So, order a used set plus another side stand. The side stand came in today. Need to see if I need to shorten it or not after the bike is all back together. .

Did cut and weed eat the yard.  Did de-grass a planting plot that had tomatoes in it. May till it tomorrow. We'll see how the winds blow.

16 August 2019

Well Hello Friday morning and time to get moving. 2nd get up of the day for sure, Again! LOL A trip to Walmart and then to Walgreens in the menu for this morning. But, since the drugs department at Walgreens don't happen till 9A. no rush.
And sheesh did I get involve in a rain storm in Central Lake Charles yesterday. Not fun in all the traffic for sure. But, we survived and after one beer at Loggerheads, and bee line to the house.
Gonna be a great day and wife asks as she out the door. What are doing today? No clue cept for this morning. The winds have not started blowing yet.

10 August 2019

Wow! 3 days of babying my knee and movies to keep me busy. Hmmmmmmmm. Wonder how I made it through the month of chilling after heart surgery? LOL! Probably was drugged and in pain more.
Oh well, not gonna rush it. Tis what it tis. And many movies on NetFlix I've never seen.
Reminds me that I watched a guy walking very stiff legged on one leg awhile back at the I-10 park and asked him about his leg. Knee operation not being too successful. Next few times I saw him over a 2 week period , was getting better all the time.
Well , back to the movie. Cheers.

A kinda push the limits of injury yesterday.  But was on some pretty good pain meds. Getting more motion but once in awhile, an over extension lets me know all is not well with the left knee.

Went in the truck to find my old buddy > Ray Fontenot <  place of burial at Liberty near Elton,  But had the wrong road so miss it.  Corrected my knowledge of the area when getting back home.
Treated Bren to a Burger King Whopper as had the want for one. A couple movings on netfflix and that was that
Oh yes Saturday morning. Hi!!!!!!! Decided to let the pain meds wear out to check on the body. Oh yes, it's alive and let's me know it didn't like that fall. Funny how the older you get the longer that stuff lingers.
So a lesser med this morning > Advil < and onwards with the rest of the day.

The Winds been Calm since the go down and hope we're able to get them going this follow week.
Now, MotoGP 2 practice on livestream computer. Ta Da.

Did check the Grapefruit tree and Wow.  Gonna be a good year.

07 August 2019

Well well well dude.   You did your knee  in pretty good.  Did swell up quite a bit and knee cap do hurt with pressure put on it.  Using cane and crutches to get around. Did sleep pretty good last night. Up and grab cane and put shoes on to to my room. Left over coffee so far as I sit with a heating pad wrapped about the knee.
So, a day of doing just what I have to do.

06 August 2019

When you're up at 3 am and decide to get in the truck and get out to find a place to look at the sky without light pollution is a challenge when you have not been hunting places like this in years. WOW! All the light poles up even in the country. Oh well, makes it easier for thieves to see what they might want to steal.
But, that aside did end up between Hathaway and Elton on 395 and a dark enough place to see the milky way barely showing across the sky.
So did take a couple pictures to study methods and camera settings for the future outings.

Next thing was dropping my Suzy bike at a corner due to losing footing.  Couple guys stopped and help me pick it up. Got it home before the knee started getting to bad so gonna have to deal with that for a few days.

Saw I had lost my phone so in the Car and go hunt but no phone. Get home and one of the guys that helped me  had lost his phone as he had put it on top of his van. Well, when he went back for it he found mine in the grass but his, not so lucky as someone ran over it. So, he'll call me again this afternoon so we and meet and I'll get my phone back.  Lucky me.

So, did get the yard mowed but left knee is not liking me none at present.   Might have to get my can out. ;-)

02 August 2019

Wow! Great walk at the graveyard this morn that really woke up my calves and sweat glands. But got about a good 1.5 miles in.
Then FD for C&C, Then the Fig Tree to knock off all the bad figs from the last days and about 1/3 gallon good figs. Do think my tree is going on the decline finally. Have a few to deliver this week and did see the wife gave away 4 bags yesterday while I was out and about. Oh Well.
Now in the chill mode while drying off before putting a fresh t shirt on. 2nd of the day.
4.4 inches of rain in the rain gauge from yesterday's storms. Wow!
Now, let us see where the winds of fate are gonna blow us the rest of the day besides a trip to Moss Buff.

Well, did think I had come down with a bladder infection but turned out to be something with the prostate gland back there misbehaving. A weeks worth of anti-bodies  and putting up with the pains and functions of it and finally better on the last few days.
Also making it a concentrated efforts to limit alcohol intake when out and about. So, we'll see where that goes.

Have not been on Suzy for awhile due to the problem. Still want to get that ometer over the 100K mark with about 5 k miles to go. Maybe today a short ride. And, the KLR , much longer. Should sell it but hate to. Not a bike many people like as to their life style.

Car doing just fine and crossed the 139K mark on it. Still my most used ride.

Did finally change to plugs and wires on the truck and have the marks on the arms to show for it still.  Hell to get old and the body showing it don't like rough treatment.

Wife is babysitting Daughter's dog for this weekend as they have a gathering at Toledo Bend. Need to enjoy it as School starts soon and Daughter is a teacher and GSon starting at McNeese. But, not going to be involved due to all the blame placed on me last time when it got away and run. Totally the wife's concern from now on out.

Did go through the buckets under the work bench in the shop and threw away a lot of stuff I'll never use.

Then got started yesterday on putting up a roof extension over the side door to the garage so, hopefully, the water coming off the roof will not splash back over the door seal and making small rivers of water in the garage. Was very hot and sweaty job as per measuring, cutting, getting the screws out and the pieces of metal in place. Making the holes with a punch and happen and getting the screws started. Will finish that project this morning before the temperature gets very high.

Really nothing exciting the last few weeks since my last entry. So, to the next!
